A Warm Winter Solstice: Technology Meets Compassion

On December 21, volunteers from Kitefly Tethered visited Aileisi Children’s Rehabilitation Center to spend a heartfelt Winter Solstice together with the children.

Under the professional guidance of therapists, simple activities such as kneading dough and shaping glutinous rice balls became meaningful rehabilitation exercises—helping children improve fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination. Beyond physical training, the festival setting offered something equally valuable: genuine social interaction and emotional connection.

“Seeing children grow during a traditional festival is especially meaningful,” said a Kitefly Tethered volunteer.
“Completing small tasks together and witnessing the sparkle in their eyes—that may be the true warmth of companionship.”

The event also welcomed children from the surrounding community, creating a naturally inclusive environment. Amid the rising steam and comforting aroma of freshly cooked tangyuan, children collaborated, communicated, and proudly shared their creations. In that moment, inclusion happened organically—through laughter and shared experience.

The head of Aileisi Children’s Rehabilitation Center remarked:
